    Since doing cat cow more than 6 each, 12 total in one session tends to be counterproductive I’m guessing that doing all those versions in one session is counterproductive.

      As I explained in the video, you need to test it and see what your body responds to. There were several different version. Test 3-5 reps of each and see how your body responds.

    Thankyou Richard ! I was wondering what to do about scapula area pain and pulling of the musculature around the higher ribs . At 71 years old and still playing competitively I am really struggling with flexibility issues but this is a beacon of hope . BTW , congrats on your transformation to the left side . I have also experimented with this as I should be a leftie , but you have made a great accomplishment . This attitude I am sure will open your game up and also encourage you to try out different ideas that come up . Tennis seems to be conservative in this respect despite the advances of the modern game . For instance , the underarm serve . If one practises , it is possible to get massive , unplayable spin , and I didn't see any of the pros who flirted with this , actually come to grips with it .

      ou are welcome. I’m glad you enjoy the videos. This exercise might help with the pain, but pain is complication so there could be many different possible contributors. I’m just glad as at the point with my left where i can enjoy playing again. It’s giving me a nee found respect for people who take tennis up later in life!

  • @thomasrebotier1741
    @thomasrebotier1741 День назад

    DO IT WITH BOTH HANDS. For the asymmetric version, racquet in hand. Like any rehab/prehab you should do any strengthening/lengthening/stretching/range of motion work an equal amount on each side.

    • @TennisHacker
      @TennisHacker 14 часов назад

      I’m really sorry, but isn’t correct and that’s not what we’re trying to do here. We’re trying to create a specific activation for the brain, so see how it impacts the quality of a movement. We want the spine to be able to move and we’re testing how the body responds. When it comes to rehab, sometimes it can beneficial to train both sides. Other times it can be counter productive and make things worse. It all depends on what someone’s body needs / responds to.

    • @thomasrebotier1741
      @thomasrebotier1741 4 часа назад

      @@TennisHacker You're right that everybody (every body) is different but in general symmetric development is far preferable; there is no such thing as physio training for the brain alone, such exercise will alter your muscle tonus/relaxation, gains within the spindle captors, posture feedback loops and God knows what. For physio just like medications, things that work have side effects, and I would think that augmenting asymmetry especially in older adults is going down the line to induce postural problems. Everyone should at least consult their doctor/physio before embarking on an asymmetrical program. As a side note, your own intuitions in the matter arise from the experience of developing your non-dominant side, so you are counterbalancing prior asymmetry. Not the case for those of us with decades of one-sided tennis 🙂

    Great video! I will definitely add this one to my routine. The move is similar to a cat/cow yoga pose, which I already do quite often, but I never thought to apply it directly to my strokes or use in play (as getting on your knees for a cat/cow mid match would be a little odd for my taste).

    • @TennisHacker
      @TennisHacker 14 часов назад

      The mobilization of the spine is similar but position is different. A cat cow done on the floor has increased stability and less vestibular requirement’s. Neither is better or worse, you can test cat cow in the same way to see how it affects stroke fluidity.

  • @KenFlanagan
    @KenFlanagan 2 дня назад

    This literally makes no sense. At what point is a 4.5 defined in this way. People get better. Who on earth defines themselves this way. Complete nonsense. If someone is ripping shots ask yourself why? Maybe you are predictable? Maybe you are giving them the same ball which eventually they know how to smack down. Moronic! Break their pattern and rhythm by changing your game and your shot selection. That is what professionals do. Anyone heard of Roger Federer??

    • @TennisHacker
      @TennisHacker 14 часов назад

      Roger Federer isn’t a 4.5 is he! I’ve been involved in tennis for a long time and have seen many 4.5 matches. Players at that level can’t continually and consistently attack with power and accuracy. If a player can do that, they will be playing at the open level. So the message is don’t panic if your opponent hits a hot streak. Stay calm and focus on high percentage patterns.

    How does a 5.0 player consistently hit winners against 4.5 and below players? Is it consistency through practice or something else? I know against moonballers and pushers, the better player needs to consistently hit their shots with authority without lowering their pace to the pusher's playing game level.

    • @TennisHacker
      @TennisHacker 2 дня назад

      It’s timing. Which comes down to hand to eye coordination. Obviously lots of practice is required. But most players could practice all day every day and not be able to do it because their hand to eye isn’t good enough.

    My biggest issue with 2 handed backhand is the approach to the ball. I found out I have no problem getting to a nice position with one handed backhand (that I never practiced in my life) but with two handed backhand I get always confused how to run and position myself to the ball. Especially high balls are very difficult to deal with for me. It is quite ironical but I hit those pro low above the net balls much better for some reason.
